Default Kathryn By The Delaware -Jamie Stillway & Eric Skye

First of three new videos I made with my dear friend Jamie Stillway for our new flatpicking duo, Stillway & Skye. https://youtu.be/1_byo1MqNLc

I wrote this reel a few years ago on the front porch of old stone house my sister and I rented for a few days on the Delaware river in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. We had the sweetest time remembering our parents and exploring area where we grew up. Kathy went out on her own for a few hours one morning and this tune popped out. I’ve since written fourteen more traditional-style tunes, as a collection inspired by imaging my parents life together forty-five years ago in historic Bucks County..

Thanks for posting this great example of the use of different capos - Eric is rocking an Elliott and I think that I got a glimpse of maybe a Paige that Jamie is using.

KIDDING!

Really fabulous video by two wonderful guitar players. It put a smile on my face. Thanks for posting!

Best,
Jayne

If anyone wants to play along, here’s the main theme as a single note line in guitar tablature. I put specific pick direction markings to help with the syncopation.

Eric, this is a wonderful melody, so easy to listen to. Great, heartfelt song and great playing by both of you! I’ll look forward to the other videos. Incidentally, as a SCGC player, I enjoyed picking out the differences in tone between those two great guitars.

Really a hoot Eric. Fantastic interplay. I had no idea you grew up back east, and fairly close to me although I was on the Jersey side of the Delaware.
I have to ask though, which one of you gave the other “guitar face” lessons
Also does Jamie have her guitar tuned down?
Thanks for posting this and the other with Jamie as well.
