I'll play along...
My first Strat. A 1980 I bought new. Gigged A LOT. Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge. Next is my favorite Strat. Custom Shop HLE. The second "production" guitar of the Fender Custom Shop. 300 made. Lindy Fralin pickups installed. Originals are in my pickup locker. White pickguard that came with the guitar installed in place of the anodized one that was installed. I prefer the look. 3rd Custom Shop "production." 35th anniversary Strat. Totally stock. Lace Sensors, active circuit used in Eric Clapton models, flame maple top, ebony fretboard. 40th Anniversary Strat. Sadly, not a Custom Shop. I thought this would go nicely with my 40th Anniversary Tele and 35th Anniversary Strat. The shop was willing to sell me this or a Danny Gatton tele for the same price. I still kick myself for making that dumb mistake. That's enough for now.

My gigmeister for 25 years - '86 MIJ, 100% stock, set up with flatwound 12's and 5-spring decked trem since day one, plays/sounds better than most of the post-Leo stuff I've encountered:

I've been a strat guy for over 40 years, but I've never had more than one at a time. My current strat is a Robert Cray MIM hardtail, with a neck from a Classic Player 50's (maple fretboard, beefy soft-V profile) and slightly rewired to my preferences. I've bought much more expensive strats, thinking they might replace this one - they're all gone, it's still here. The only one I haven't tried that I'd like to check out is an American Original 50's. May get around to it someday, or maybe not...

My Strat is a Warmoth body & neck combo that I bought at a guitar show in the early 90's. The guitar had no electronics or pick guard. However, it did have the bridge, nut and tuners and the dealer strung it up so a buyer could "play" it. I picked it up and the guy at the both told me that this guitar rang out acoustically better than any Strat he'd ever played and he simply ran out of time to install any pickups before the show. Seemed a bit strange, but oh well. I picked it up, gave it some big cowboy chord strums as well as some jazzier stuff up the neck and, wow, he was right. There was something special going on with this piece of maple bolted to the slab of ash. I bought it and promptly installed a set of active EMG pickups and played it for 20 years with that set up.
After growing tired of those pups I made the change to a more vintage flavored Fender noiseless models that remain in the guitar today. I also installed Schaller locking tuners soon after I bought the guitar. It's got a nice, natural relic patina going on and my kids will have to fight over it when I'm gone because this is a magic guitar. I got lucky that day when I found this. |

Mine's not particularly pretty, but it does what I need it for and I like its one distinctive feature. A lot of people who look at it will think "OK, a black Strat." Look again.

Well since you asked... Here's my Fender six-string group (don't have a separate pic of the Strat, and I also have a Jazz bass) -- the Strat (American Standard) was the first of the three... I've always been a Fender guy and the Strat, to me, is just THE rock guitar...

ya know,,, there is something inexplicably RIGHT about the contours of a strat and how they photograph,, especially in that first shot
and yours is for sure a rather photogenic example! I have two of those bad boys as well... one thing ya can't be without, is a strat.. and a tele.. and a les paul,, sg... gretsch,,, uh-oh,, back down the rabbit hole I go...

An older picture(probably four years ago)of my three favorite electrics. The OlympicWhite reverse neck is a bone stock 1997 American Special Hendrix VooDoo Strat. The PianoBlack is a 2016 American Special HSS, heavily hotrodded with locking tuners, GraphTechTeflon saddles, nut and string trees. Ceramic coated tremolo springs and set up as a hard tail.
Both strats have the large sized CBS era headstock, which BTW, looks absolutely killer on any Telecaster!

Here's mine. This is an American Professional (1) strat. I love the color, but my secondary reason for buying this color was that it was the only color for which I could get it in swamp ash. It's a great sounding guitar. It's not blocked, but I did add two extra springs and don't really use the tremolo.
