Here's a pic I took on a deserted beach last week. I was walking along and saw multiple squiggly line diagrams in the sand. Turns out they're (presumably) made by a sand worm. Reminds me of the Nazca Lines.

This is just one of many. BTW, there were no footprints anywhere around any of the 'diagrams'. For whatever reason, they fascinated me.

Here are a couple more pictures of our recent trip to the Niagara region of Ontario:

Some may find Apple's panorama function on its camera app to be gimmicky but I like the way it forces perspective and creates "vanishing points." It's something that has always "drawn me in" to images and inspired many of my student pieces. This is especially true of GoPro footage that employ wide angle lenses to capture POV footage of extreme sports. This image of the whirlpool gorge evokes the same feeling I got as I stood at the overlook.

This picture of Clifton Hill (also taken from our hotel room) also creates that "unsteady" feeling because of its downward viewing angle. I'll admit, the presence of a crowd during a pandemic adds to that but will hopefully fade with age.

Finally, here's a more "relaxing" image that I was also drawn in on. In hindsight I would have tried to do a narrow field panorma but I like how the foreground elements frame perspective beyond. It also "challenges the rectangle" as my instructors used to profess.

We’ve been vacationing in or around Grand Marais, Minnesota for 20 years or more. For at least half those years, we’ve stayed in a house in a small resort on Devil Track Lake, about 9 miles north of the town itself. I’ve taken dozens (if not hundreds) of photos up here every year, and every year I find different takes on the same themes.

This one was taken yesterday morning, just after the resident floatplane had left for the day.

We hiked up to Lost Lake yesterday, the last full day of summer. The lake is at el. 12,000 feet.

(And nice photo, Paul, I like that!)

Thanks Ken, it's on my neighbor's property. I went out this morning with a better camera trying to catch better light.

David, hi. Do they deliver the mail by boat or plane there? I know that USPS sometimes does that in remote areas.

I'm posting a cool article below. At the bottom of the Grand Canyon is a post office at Phantom Ranch, right beside the Colorado River, one of the more remote POs in the country. Check it out: The mail there is delivered by mule. Supposedly it's the only PO in the country that does that.
