Here are the two I’ve whittled my collection down to. On the left, my Rickenbacker 650D, which I’ve owned, from new, since 2001. On the right my Hondo Pro Lead II - a Japanese-made copy of a Fender Lead II. I bought this one in 1981 or 1982 - left it with a friend in England when I came to the US in 1984, and was reunited with it after he passed away unexpectedly in 2015.

Neither of these is going anywhere - between them, they cover every base I need covered these days

Here are mine.

The top row is my PINK Squier Hello Kitty, 1972 Gibson ES-175, Gretsch 6120, Gretsch 6120 Hot Rod, Gibson Les Paul Classic P-90, and PRS Vela.
Middle row is the Fender Classic Series 50s Strat, Godin 5th Ave Kingpin II, Gretsch 6120 Hot Rod, 1972 Gibson Les Paul Custom (owned since 1974), and a Gibson Les Paul Studio.
Bottom row is the other Hello Kitty Squier, Epi Regent (now gone), Gretsch 5420T, Gretsch Electromatic 1910 (now gone), Gibson Les Paul Faded,

I didnt realize anybody made copies of the Lead series.
When getting my first electric in '82, I looked at a Lead I but it cost a little more than I wanted to spend.

Does the Hondo also have a pretty narrow nut?

This is the only copy I’m aware of - I’m pretty sure there was a Lead 1 copy as well. I modded mine soon after I got it to add the humbucker, so it’s more of a Lead 1.5

And yes, the nut is really skinny - 1 9/16”. The Rickenbacker, by contrast, is 1 3/4” - but I can go between the two of them without any issue.

I feel in love with a Japanese made Hondo Pro Tele copy from the same series. Seriously good instrument. I've played a Strat copy from the line briefly once, and it seemed good too.
