Default money coming what to buy?

got some unexpected funds coming(between 2000.00 and 2500.00) already designated to a guitar. i have martin d-18, martin om-28, taylor 714ce. the only guitar i regret selling was a 2003 martin hd-28.

i'm leaning that way and man there are a bunch of selections out there. my quandry is once you start looking and researching everything under the sun pops up. stuff you never new existed. right now i've got about 10 guitars bookmarked and every other day something else pops up.

there's really nowhere locally i can go and play a bunch so it will most likely be an online purchase.

i'm a solo gigger and like to keep the d-18 tuned down a whole step for certain songs. sounds great that way. anyway any suggestions would be helpful.

A Gibson Advanced Jumbo might be a nice tonal addition to your stable.

Gibson J-185 (maple) and Yamaha LL36 (EIR) are worth a look. Good luck with your quest!

Don't know if you can do it but I'd pocket the money and then kick in another 1k or so, and shop for a used Santa Cruz D/PW or Collings D2H dread in EIR. You already have the Martin angle covered with the D-18 and OM-28.

You gotta like this kind of thinking if you spend much time on AGF!

I have been plunking on my Huss and Dalton this morning and just set it down. It is spruce over EIR and I bought it on a COVID lark from Guitar Center back in April. Knowing that they had (at the time) a 180 day return period, it was a no risk purchase.
No chance it will be going back. I have boxes by Bourgeois, Larrivee and Froggy Bottom. And the one I reach for mostly is this wonderful H&D 000, short scale. With very light Thomastik strings, it has been a great instrument for me as I started my second year playing guitar. H&D does not have the cache that some other names do, and the value on the second hand market is very discouraging, but not if you are buying. Consider this one:
https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Hu...tric-Guitar.gc.
Good luck with your search - a labor of love.
David

''the only guitar i regret selling was a 2003 martin hd-28.''

You have your answer right there. You can get one from one of our forum sponsors, new, for right in your budget. That's where I'd go!

I like the idea of throwing in a bit more cash if you can swing it and picking up a SCGC D/PW as well, but the reimagined HD-28s are really nice and within your budget new. You may want to consider a used D-41, which has a bit more shimmer than the HD and is better balanced. Plus they look great for a solo performer.

Also, a J45 would be a nice addition to change things up.

funny, every guitar in the responses is in my bookmarked list except the gibson jumbo. i was looking hard at a used huss and dalton but would need to throw in cash. the hunt keeps the blood flowing.

One of my favorite Gibsons and something that would give the OP a different tonal palette for sure.

If you can’t bump your budget up by $1,000 or so and get a used Collings/Bourgeois/etc (and believe me they are worth it!), then your herd desperately needs a Gibson.
