Thank you for your comments and for watching the video. I take it that you actually went through the video and worked out at least some of the picking patterns. If so, good for you. Most people are not willing to deal with this level of discomfort in learning something new. I will have to look up "Sitting By The Road" by Blaze Foley. I am not familiar with the song. Thanks for the suggestion! - Glenn

Good to hear you again, Glenn. Been far too long. Nice work, young man.
I'm sure you've heard John Prine say, "I learned these three chords when I was 12 years old and never felt the need to learn any more. They sound pretty good to me." And Blaze Foley, to boot. Glenn, did you see the Blaze biopic? I haven't got to it yet. Be Well & Thanks Again, Scott |

I did the John Prine version of the Blaze Foley song because a fellow AGF member asked me to help him with this. After checking it out -- I had never heard of Blaze Foley until then -- I realized that it would make a good subject for a Travis picking lesson. I have been thinking about doing a lesson on Travis picking for a long time, so this song ended up being the catalyst for this lesson. I have not seen the Blaze biopic. I will have to check that out. I am having to work a little harder at finding songs to do on my YouTube channel, at least songs I think people will be interested in. So in many cases, I end up doing songs that people have suggested to me. It certainly keeps me learning new stuff! I am doing well, Scott! I hope all is well for you and your family. - Glenn

There are two - Blaze, which is a “re-imagined”/fictionalized pic with actors playing the parts (Charlie Sexton is great as Townes VZ). I really enjoyed it. Then there is Duct Tape Messiah, which is a documentary on Blaze. Haven’t seen it yet. |
