Default Acoustic Music Being Recognized (Girl + her guitar + mandolin player)

I’m humbled and honored that my new song, “Adirondack Dreams,” was featured on The Bluegrass Situation this week. (This is Ed Helm's website- better known as "Andy" from The Office.) I wrote this song, co-produced it, played guitar on it, and sang it. My manager told me to take the mandolin out, but I told him no and stuck to my guns. He said this song would die in its tracks with mandolin on it. It’s so nice to know that there are still blogs and publications covering music like this—just old-fashioned instruments, and a girl playing, singing, and writing about growing up in the mountains. It's so nice to see that Acoustic Music still has a place somewhere out there to call home.

Great song, great singing & great recording, Sofia, although in the beginning I think your voice could be just a little bit louder, but I digress......

I won't download Spotify, so here's the link that goes to the Soundcloud track:

Best of luck with your new record!

Ashley, you're the best!

Right now I'm watching the American Experience Woodstock Festival show. It's fantastic. I'll check out your song later.

I have your songs on my Amazon Prime Music list. Keep it up, keep the music coming!

Sounds fantastic. Reminds me of early Dolly Parton! There’s a very strong group of acoustic musicians out there right now, and they do just fine even though they’re not on country radio. Sounds to me like you need a new manager...

Well, I for one like the mandolin: the way it sings over the mix at 0:45-0:50 and 1:30-1:33 + the bridge is well done ... but then, I freely admit I'm biased since I've been known to have a mandolin in my hands when I'm not playing bass or guitar
I actually like this track more than "Winter Prayer" so I guess that makes it my new favorite of yours? Great lyrics and I'm digging the way the accents on 2 & 4 energize the song.

What is your manager smoking? The mandolin fit the song nicely.

I also think it's cool that Ed Helms is a fan of bluegrass. Haha

I agree; early Dolly ''In My Tennesee Mountain Home''. And don't take that as criticism, that's a huge compliment! I love Dolly!

The mandolin completes the sound of the song. Is your manager the same person who told you to ''dumb down'' your music? If so, maybe that manager isn't the one for you.

I liked that, good job. I think there's a few spots there for a Mando solo and then later guitar/Mando section if you were ever to do a longer version. I do think your voice is a little buried in the mix though as well, just from a listeners point of view.

Way to go, Ashley! That was fun to listen to. Congratulations. Like Barry (TBman), I also would have liked your vocal to be a bit more out front, but really enjoyed the song.

Best,
Jayne

Hi Ashley,

Well, that sounds very good to me! Well done! Lovely voice and nicely constructed song!

Regarding the mandolin in the mix, I think it sounds good and fits in well. Then again, I don't know what your manager is considering in terms of marketing your music.

I wish you well in your efforts! Very enjoyable piece of music!

I love everything about the song - beat, melody, arrangement and your voice. Unfortunately, these ears cannot make out most of the lyrics. You're just a bit too far back in the mix to accommodate the lyrical inflections you bring to the song; especially where you taper off your vocal volume.

On top of agreeing with the above, I’d say your manager is behind the times a bit. Demand for both banjo and/or mando in the mix is growing.
