Hi Everyone,

First time posting here, but I've been reading and enjoying your wisdom and opinions for a while.

I'm in England and my favourite guitar act is a duo called Ezio out of Cambridge. Smaller gigs just the two of them on acoustics, bigger gigs with added bass, drums and colour instruments

Best wishes,

Mark

Roddy Frame - solo now, formerly of Aztec Camera. Incredible songwriter and musician.

Wally Bryson of the Raspberries, is another that comes to my mind. So does Vic Johnson, of the BusBoys.

Default Looking backward...

Recently I remembered to look up Lenny Breau. He came out of Canada in the early Sixties. His mature work combines jazz, country classical and flamenco elements. I caught him in Nashville in the late seventies at the Exit Inn, dueting with Larry Coryell. Lenny stayed in town while he was studying and recording with Chet Atkins. As exciting as he was lyrical, Breau also tossed out false harmonics like no one else. He's well worth a listen, especially if you haven't heard.

Growing up in Toronto I got to see a lot of Ed Bickert, Bruce Cockburn and Lenny Breau.
Check them out below out.

And while I never got to see Scotty Anderson he knocks me out. See below.

Among his musical peers though he was highly esteemed. Jimmy Page was his idol when he was young and after Jimmy Page heard and saw him play live he himself said he was in awe of Jeff Buckley. Not only was he a excellent guitarist and vocalist he could play multiple instruments. He could play every instrument in every Led Zeppelin song.

His main guitar was a Telecaster although he did play a Guild, Gibson and Yamaha acoustic.Sadly the music world lost a lot of talent due to his early demise.

Who is a favorite of yours that is not that noticed that we may learn of their musical ways?

Also one of my faves - between him and John Stockfish (bass) Gord didn't need anything else...

I would like to bring to your attention:

Grady Martin, perhaps best known for all those tasty licks in Marty Robbins cowboy songs.

Mike Taylor, early sideman with John Denver. Great guitar playing on the "Aerie", "Poems Prayers and Promises", and "Rocky Mountain High" albums.

Danny Korchmar with early James Taylor.

There are a lot of names on the list that I assumed were well-known, but I guess only in guitar nerd circles.

Hey, how about Rory Block?

For the last seven years, whenever we visit Costa Rica, we make sure to see Tony Putaggio perform. He is heavily influenced by Rodrigo y Gabriela, but his style is all his own.

Here are a couple of clips --- all show a different side to his playing.

Original song, busking in France:

Shredding on a medley of songs:

Slower, more experimental:
