One of the downsides of the Epiphone Century Deluxe are the poorly made tuning machines. I wanted to replace them without any modification of the guitar (cutting holes for screws or for the tuner...etc). I found that HipShot makes a nice tuner that can be installed without any modification. In addition, the tuner comes as either open back, closed back and/or locking tuners. I like the locking type of tuner and purchased them in a satin finish to match the originals. Here is the video of the installation on the Century Deluxe. These are MUCH BETTER tuning machines and work flawlessly.
