An actress acting her age.

We've just started watching the Amazon series "Night Sky" with Sissy Spacek. Her character is a 73 year old woman and guess what---Sissy is 73. I first saw her in 1973 when she was in the movie "Badlands" with Martin Sheen. I was 21 then. Great actress.

I agree, Sissy is a great actress, and her performance in this series is outstanding, as is the performance of her co-star J. K. Simmons. For fans of either actor Night Sky is worth a try. Though after watching two episodes, I've decided it's not a series I want to continue watching, mostly due to its slow pace and the addition of a second storyline that doesn't include Spacek or Simmons.

Such a great actress. I started the series last night but was tired and fell asleep. I’m intrigued…nice to watch JK Simmons stretching out a bit too. An interesting pairing…the slow pace might be a deal breaker but Open Range started really slow too but had me hooked about half way through the season.

Sissy lives just outside Charlottesville, and I had the opportunity to wait on her several times when I worked at the Barnes & Noble in town. Let me tell you, she is one very down-to-earth person. She does a great job in Bloodline as well...

Here on the west slope looks we may get close to average snow/moisture content this year after several dry years in a row .. Hope so as a month ago it was looking to be another bad fire season..

I'd like to see more male actors acting their age. Seventy-year-old action hero's just bug me. Sixty-eight years olds are okay though.

That has seemed a curious feature of 50s Westerns for me. The male hero was often an overweight 40 or even 50 year-old who had a twenty-something lovely hanging on his arm. They remind me a little of Latin American comedy-musical shows, where the host is an ugly, elderly, and out-of-shape guy, while the hostess is a ravishing young stunner. High Noon must be the ultimate example of this, but there are numerous less extreme TV shows in the late 50s I've seen. I'm thinking of the TV Superman, off the cuff (though not a Western, obviously).

How about 90 year old Clint Eastwood? Punching guys out, and chasing young cantina señoritas?

I read that Kelly McGillis was asked if she was approached about being in the sequel...

She said: "They did not get in touch and nor do I think they would ever. I mean, I'm old and I'm fat and I look age-appropriate for what my age is. And that is not what that whole scene is about!

FWIW, she's 5 years older than Tom Cruise.

Actually, in the last one, the other scene, where the kid's hot mom comes on to him, was quite ridiculous as well.

She is awesome for sure. When I see her in a movie, I know it will be good and worth watching.

Yes, it's slow, but Night Sky is intriguing - I finished season 1 earlier this week. Both the older leads are very good in it.
