Clayton Kershaw had a perfect game through 7 innings but got the hook when the 8th started. I watched PTI and Michael Wilbon was very frustrated with the decision stating that the game has deteriorated due to analytics and pitch counts. Kornheiser was the opposite and mentioned that the Dodgers didn't make it to the World Series and Kershaw wasn't playing in the NLCS due to his injury.

Kershaw had arm problems last season so that played a factor but I think it's a shame that a pitcher can pitch a perfect game but is not allowed to throw more than 80 pitches (which was what Kershaw did last night). Fans may have lost out on something special.

Apparently, Kershaw didn't object to getting pulled. Not sure if he wanted to get pulled or if he's a team player and supports the coach's decision.

Your thoughts?

Terry Collins let Johan Santana finish a no-hitter after shoulder surgery. For all intents & purposes it was the last well-pitched game of Santana's career.

I just looked that game up. Santana threw 134 pitches and walked 5. Did he have an injury coming into the game requiring that he be pulled earlier in the game?

He had shoulder surgery in September, 2010. He missed the entire 2011 season. He threw the no-hitter on June 1, 2012, won 3 games after that and by the middle of August he had thrown his last game.

I think Dave Roberts has guts. He protected the valuable arm of a pitcher whom the Dodgers need to go deep in the post season.

I think Kershaw is a class player who won’t toss his manager under a bus.

Probably not gonna hear too much from the fans from Cincinnati.

I note that our guys hover around .500. Whitlock opens today—and I bet Hill backs him up. Cora is figuring out the bullpen. Gutsy to bring in Barnes last night in a 9th inning jam.

Angels and Mariners tied for 1st in the AL West with 8-6 records.
It's early, but I'll take it. Angel pitching is improved. Young guys coming around.
Long season, but a decent start.

Blue Jays are off to a decent start, with some injuries they're tops right now,
Good thing cuz it's the time of year when the Leafs start to fade.

Red Sox lost 2 of 3 from both the Yankees and Blue Jays, who are both ahead of them in the standings. It's a tight division.

Ohtani had a fantastic start a couple of games ago and also at the plate. He's had a slow start but that last game was great. I'd like to see him continue to be a two way superstar.

I think the Jays may take the division this year. They will also have a great home field advantage this year.

Leafs... I wonder if they can finally make it out of the first round of the playoffs, which they haven't done in 18 years.

I'd like to see the Jays take the AL East this year.
Finally get to play all their home games in Toronto.
Tough division. No one team can just feast on the rest of the division.

Jays fan here - they got behind 3-0 against Verlander last night and came back to win it 4-3. This could be an interesting season.

My Mets are off to a good start, thankfully. And, last night we watched the Yankees on Amazon Prime. They have a 21 game deal (mostly Fridays), and are using the YES production crew and talent...and I can see how it's a great platform to promote all that is on Prime...which isn't saying much, imo.

Mets out of the gate quick but we've been here before.

Red Sox were no-hit through 9 innings, scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th only to give up 3 in the bottom frame. Unearned runs. That would have been a huge moral booster for the team if they had pulled off a win.

What's with the Yankees fans throwing bottles and stuff at the Guardians' outfielders last night? Thinking video will be used to permanently ban some people from the stadium.
