No reason at all koa would not make a very good classical guitar. It's in the same family as Tasmaninan Blackwood (Acacia) which Aussie builders have been using for classicals for a long time. I have a couple of extraordinary sets that I've been hanging on to and will eventually build with, probably with spurce but I see no reason one could not use cedar with koa.
I played a Bob Ruck koa/spruce about 15 years ago and it was a magnificent guitar. Velasquez has used koa. IMO it's far more important how the builder treats the top. p |

Very pretty. Adirondack on a nylon string is a very interesting spruce choice. I think englemann goes well with nylon .

Found a custom NS with a cedar top and koa back that's pretty close to the specs I would order for a BTO. Argh for the high price though
