I can see how they're more interesting also for string makers, and not just only for the 2 or 3 top strings (basically all metal B and high E strings are the same piano wire, no?)

I agree nylon strings work great for blues, one might even wonder to what extend the really early bluesmen played on something other than metal. The African influences almost certainly come from instruments not strung with metal).

Nylons are also used in South-American styles, Chet Atkins played them regularly too, as did Buster Jones

I've never had any interest in nylons - but recently been interested.

Two things that really pushed me in the nylon direction were these:


AGF-er Chris Crouch does a lot of videos of Martins and Taylors. This particular one video had a guitar sound (the guitar not the recording) that I absolutely love. So much that I have been keeping my eye out for one of these guitars to consider getting:




And then there is this absolute nylon genius who plays rock and punk songs with a flatpicked nylon - completely smashing genre and style boundaries. And he sounds amazing;

Is that the new Martin crossover for which they developed the Magnifico strings?

It was built by a local luthier near me here in Central Ky, Will Reshaw. I've been wanted a nylon solid-body electric for longer than i can remember like the Sydowski nylon string.

Will was kind enough to take on the challenge and i love it. It has Barbera Soloist pickup, which is basically the saddle, volume and tone control. Maple top and neck, mahogany back. Very light weight, no feedback and plays super well.
