Default Elixir HD not being produced until June

I had wanted to order a couple of sets of the 13 - 53 strings and I found that they aren't available until June from my favorite vendor. I have some EJ17, but I had wanted coated strings. What else is out there that's similar in gauge and coated?

Maybe the new D'Addario XS? Strings and Beyond still has the EXP's which are also coated but are being discontinued.

Nothing quite like Elixir Nano for coated strings. Personally in the past I have ordered sets of Elixir light gauge and separate singles for the first string (some times the second string also).

I’m in the same boat. I use 13-53 HDs on a couple of my guitars and have had several sets on back order for a couple of months with no firm delivery in sight. I haven’t seen a packaged set with the same mix. Luckily, I have a few sets in storage. I guess we can make up our own custom Nano sets in a pinch. But those work beautifully on 2 or 3 of my guitars.

Aren't the HDs only different on the first three strings? The first two strings are the same gauge as mediums and the third, G (.25), is between the lights (.24) and the mediums (.26). In a bind, you could pick up a set of mediums and a set of lights, blend them, and be correct on all but the G.

That’s correct. That’s what I meant when I said make a Custom set out of Nano strings. They are expensive, so there’s the — what do you do with the extra strings if you don’t use mediums... or lights. I expect this will come to pass.

Might want to check out D’Addario EXP19s (Bluegrass) and Santa Cruz Mid Tension. I’ve liked them both on a variety of dreads...though these days I’m back to basics on both my current guitars - EXP17s.

Try Ernie Ball Paradigms. You just might have a new favorite string. In my experience, they last at least as long as Elixirs but do not feel or sound like a coated string.

...and there are no individual Elixir strings to be found! I’ve checked all the usual online sites...apparently they’ve cut way back on production!
