Ahh, the thread I've been looking to do for a few years!

It arrived today, while I was at work. I got the "Out for Delivery" text notification from the USPS this morning. It was estimated to be delivered yesterday, but I had figured it would be a no show. Today I was periodically watching my "Ring" app on my phone, lol. Finally about 3ish I texted my wife and gave her the tracking number and phone number of the P.O. and they told her it was definitely being delivered today. It finally showed up at about 4:30 Fortunately our younger son was home and he was able to bring the box into the house.

My first impression after tuning it to DADGAD was that the guitar was quieter than I expected. I was a little disappointed. I let it sit while we had dinner and watched tv for a little while. Afterwards I sat with it and played it a bit, trying out a few tunes, with and without a capo. I took a break and let it sit some more while we watched a Hallmark Mystery movie.

I came back to it and then it seemed more responsive, or maybe my hand started to adapt to the guitar more. Either way I like the richness of the tone and I found myself becoming comfortable with it. Here's a short demo and some pictures as required by law.

It’s a looker, Barry, and the tone really has a nice dimension to it in this clip. Have fun getting to know what your hands and heart can pull from it.
Best,
Jayne

Great Barry! Congrats to you after this long search. I think you will find that you'll adapt (obviously!) and your hand will give you what your ear needs/wants to hear as you get to know this super nice guitar. From your little clip, the harmonics said a lot to me (and my ear!) as to what's in store for you. Very very nice.
Best,
Fred

Happy new guitar day and congrats on a looker! It sounds fine too, I liked the tone in your recording very much!

The rosewood is gorgeous - Furch have a nack of picking out beautiful pieces of wood (we have three: flame maple OM, Rosewood OM and Walnut 12-string dread, all fantastic to look at and play).

Yay—congratulations, Barry!

Now there is a lovely tonality I know and love. Beautiful wood on yours, too—I’m delighted for you.

Cool. Glad it finally got to you. With that said, I picked a G22 CM a few years ago and though It had a great tone, I thought the volume was a bit underwhelming. I returned/traded it in for my current D33LM, which is like a D18 on steroids.
One day I can see getting a G yellow SR.

On a side not, I have played other G23s/yellows CRs that did not have a lack of volume.

It does sound nice in your recording

Fantastic - I think that sounds really really nice, your nicest recorded tone yet IMO. Warm but very articulate and balanced - mine was not short of volume and maybe you will find that it opens up but that you also adjust to it and alter your attack a little.

Enjoy it, you have waited along time :-)

Fantastic! Congrats on your new Furch, Barry. Although I can't tell its volume on the recording it does sound very responsive with dynamics. Sustain too.

Let us know if the low volume, or less than expected, will cause you to rethink your purchase in a couple of weeks.

Very nice! I ordered mine yesterday from Birckhouse. I had been sitting on it for a couple months but I think that your original post helped push me to finally take the plunge. I’m hoping I like the guitar!(

I also felt the same on my Furch GA. Granted I have an Alpine top, but a lot of it to my ear was the string choices. I just didn't like the Elixirs, seemed to stifle the projection.

So my search ended up going to 80/20 strings, which are great! I did get a setup that also helped a little after about 3 months and humidipaks so that it was acclimated to Chicagoland.

But after the strings, the setup, it took about 6 months for it to really open up. Then the Charmed Life Pick Browns made the final touch for me!

Congrats Barry! You've waited a LONG time!

I hope it's just the "coming alive" after the long trip. I hope it ends up being all you've waited for.

Thanks everyone. I bought a Music Nomad soundhole humidifier and a soundhole hygrometer as well for it. So we'll see. It was in transit for about a week so it could be that. I think I'm used to the big sound of the Avalon which I play often also, so I'll just play the Furch for a while to see. It is really a beautiful guitar.

Love what Furch is doing with the yellow series. Probably going to be my next NGD come Christmas!
