John K, you need one of these cool branding irons! I like that a LOT.

A lot less work than inlay, and nice understated look.

Go, J O

Paul
Thanks Paul,

I had that branding iron for many years. Finally got a chance to use it.

It is nice to be a custom builder and from a branding (not meant to be a branding (iron) pun) stand-point I probably should stick with with just one, but I am not a production shop, so I can make many.

I have a couple of guitars I was getting ready for some shows last year. I mostly had them finished, but stuck them in the closet thinking I would keep them for the Hershey Show this year. Well that is not happening, so it was time to dust them off and finish them up to get them ready to get out to dealers.

This one is a Cedar/Mango FS model.

I like the way the back on this looks like a campfire.

Cedar top.

5 piece Neck, Mahogany/Rosewood combo, Wenge healcap and bindings.

Thanks Tim and nice to hear from you. I do try to check in on the AGF even when I am not posting much and enjoy your build threads. I always seem to get an idea or two from your detailed build threads.

Here are a couple more shots of the Cedar/Mango FS. The rosette here is mahogany with rosewood pinstripes.

The pinstripe on the rosette does not have as much contrast as I would like, but it kind of goes with the organic theme I was attempting.

I like these tuner buttons that I made. They actually have cornstalks or leaves in a composite material. (I am not positive if the corn was organic or not, and I doubt the resin is either) Oh well ...

Here is another FS model I finished up recently. Like the previous Cedar/Mango, I mostly had it done with the exception of final set-up. I pulled this one from the closet and spent some time with it getting it ready to go to Guitar Gallery.

It is Adirondack with Quilted Mahogany. This particular model is what I call the FS 13-16 as the top bout meets the guitar at the ~ 13thfret and lower bout meets at about the 16th fret. It is a design I worked on for a custom build for a (great) customer of mine.

Here are some (quickie) shots from the bench

It is kind of funny how all the strings broke at almost the same spot!

I remember that design from when you first did it, very unique and cool. This is a really great looking guitar. I bet the Guitar Gallery will not have it very long.

Smile Yep...

Very cool neck join. Like a cutaway without the pesky bend. Maybe a bendaway? And COOL Pinstripes in that rosette!!! Very hot rod...

Nice to have you back here, John!

Thanks Tom, I did a JS in that design for the same guy. He loved it so much he wanted one with the 13/16 neck join on an FS. Hopefully you are correct that it does not stay at Guitar Gallery too long.

Thanks Benjamin

(as I was typing your name, I just remembered a friend of mine had a blues/rock band called Ben Jamin)

Thanks Paul. I like making the "bendaway" although they are sort of a pain to implement.

Here are a couple more shots of the B&W/Bearclaw Sitka 00-12

In this shot we can see the soundport. I will reserve overall comments on soundports for another thread. I do think it is cool how we can see the shadows on the strings on the back brace.

The fingerboard is made from a nice piece of Black and White Ebony

A detail shot of the heelcap

I love the look a slotted headstocks. I don't however enjoy restringing a guitar with a slotted headstock.
