D’Addario Humditrac Calibration

Just bought a D’Addario Humiditrak system
I was wondering if I the Sensor needed to be calibrated?
Anyone here using this system?
Also have two more Oasis hygrometers and a large Hydrometer to set on my desk.

If you plan on performing relative humidity calibrations (if the sensors are provided with a means to do so), or just plan on checking the accuracy of your hygrometers, use a sling psychrometer as the reference standard. Here is an example of what these instruments look like:

A sling psychrometer (wet bulb thermometer/dry bulb thermometer) is the most accurate method available to measure RH. It is rather inconvenient to use, though. That's why the small digital electronic units are so popular. Unfortunately the accuracy and precision, of the thin-film capacitive sensor, is somewhat sloppy.

They're not accurate and there's no way to adjust them unfortunately.

That was my experience, too. I switched to Govee. Cheaper, plenty accurate for my needs...and can be calibrated.

$20 on eBay. Is this the one I want? Govee Wireless Bluetooth hygrometer and thermometer?

You cannot calibrate the Humiditrak, unfortunately. Mine is junk and was junk when I opened the package. My calibrated hygrometer reads 39% right now and the Humiditrak reads 54%. There is no way I would ever trust my guitars to this device. I’ve been trying since Christmas to get the replacement the company promised to send me(two times) and have little hope I will ever receive it. I will not buy another D’Addario product.

I've tried the D'Addario, Oasis, Govee and SensorPush. Nothing works as smoothly and accurately as the SensorPush IMO. Govee works but the app is slow and isn't as well designed and responsive as the SensorPush app. I know the Govees are popular here but that app can be so slow for me and doesn't respond as quickly as the SensorPush.

I started a salt test on one of my two new hygrometers. Both are adjustable. My old one is not adjustable and is 15 points off. Reads 63-65% not 75% after 24 hours.

Just got two Govee Smart Hygrometers. I’m salt testing them now.
It’s nice to be able to calibrate the hygrometer from my iPad.
My D’Addario Hygotrak is off by 5%. I could only get 70% with salt test. I contacted D’Addario to see what can be done.

Same with mine. It stayed at 39% until I started a salt test. Only goes to 70% after 24 hours. 5% off.

The problem with the salt test is that you're testing at 75% when you really want to be testing at 50%RH. I've found several to be even further off at 50% than they are at 75%.

I wish I had read these threads before purchasing two Humiditraks. Initially, both the RH and temperature were way off, but over time the temperature readings have settled in. The RH was another matter. As a test, I put both sensors in the same guitar case, and one reads 23% RH and the other 55% RH. I’ll probably return both and get the SensorPush sensors, rather than tempt fate with a replacement.
