Nicely done! I've played this one for many years. I have a few different transitions, but this is beautiful.

I appreciate your listening and taking time to comment! It's cool that you also play this. It's a challenge to sing, especially that chorus will all those high G notes, as you know. I hope all is well for you! - Glenn

Hi Glenn,
Beautiful guitar music, a favorite for me. Lovely vocals paired with a perfectly played guitar is truly heavenly. Your recording set-up sounds really good!!! Love this recording. Rene |

Wow, Glenn, 3 pages and we're under 12 hours since you posted this! Why?
Cause it's REALLY good!! Once again your songs bring me to lyrics I "thought" I'd heard/knew through this classic, but they punch through nicely for me to enjoy via your version. I think '67 was a really good year for Martins, by the way!!! Thanks, Glenn!

Thanks so much for your kind comments! I'm so pleased that you like this! It's a simple song, just vocal and guitar, and then I added the harmony vocals. So it comes out sounding nice and clean, not muddied up with a bunch of other stuff. I'm so glad you are appreciating the quality of my recordings. Being retired, I do have time. And time makes such a difference so I can pay attention to details. Also, I am very fortunate to have some good mics, mic preamps, and recording software. And I have learned a lot in the last few years from folks here on the AGF, especially from the RECORDING sub-section of the AGF. I really appreciate your comments, Rene! I hope you and your wife are well! - Glenn

You always make me feel good! Thank you for your kindness over the years! And thank you for your kind words regarding this video and cover. I think people are responding to this song because it's familiar; people tend to like what they know. At the same time I do appreciate your compliments on my cover! I'm really pleased that you feel it came out well. The lyrics to this song are really touching; I'm glad my cover helps bring them out to you. And yes, I do think 1967 was a pretty good year for Martin guitars. I feel so lucky to have my old D-35. The guitar recording is not perfect; there are places where the sound is not as pleasant and solid sounding as I would have liked, but it does sound live. It sounds like my D-35, and that's a pretty good sound. I'm glad you like it, too! I hope you are well Fred, and thank you for taking on the volunteer job of moderating the AGF. That is a very big deal! - Glenn

I appreciate your taking time to listen and then to comment here and lend support! Much appreciated! And I'm very pleased that you felt I did an okay cover with this video. "Leader of the Band" is, I agree, a masterpiece of song writing. And I marvel at Dan Fogelberg's openness in this song. In one interview on YouTube that I listened to just today he commented that this song was about "patching up a relationship" with his father. So, I suppose like most fathers and sons, some friction had existed. I know he had gone off to LA at only 19 years old, so that probably worried his father. But after all that, it's amazing to see such a heartfelt tribute to his dad in this song not long before his father passed away. Thanks again, Dennis! I hope all is well for you! Take care! - Glenn

Great job Glenn!
Dan was one of the greats. I spent a lot of hours picking along with his tunes.

Hey Glenn, Well done as always. As others noted, I truly enjoyed the stripped down simple approach - one guitar, vocals with harmonies where appropriate. You did the song a great honor and let me focus (for the first time) on the lyrics. Much more to it than I remembered from hearing on the radio as a kid. And, of course, flawless playing, great vocal performance. As expected from you [emoji6] Thanks for sharing. Cheers! Dave |
