"The Boxer" by Simon & Garfunkel played out of C is an excellent example of the travis picking technique.

I'd be interested in tabs?

For anybody who should stumble across this, I recommend

Me and My Uncle
Folsom Prison Blues

I'll post more as I experiment.

Who wrote me and my uncle originally? Love that tune hear it on pandora and have the name written down but the composer (whom I can't recall at the moment) didn't come up in an iTunes search...

Watched the video great for a beginner... I was hoping for the tabs for that song for the chords. I also agree the pattern is less important than playing, however if every tune has the same pattern the tunes all sound the same to some degree

Hey bro. I have tutorials on Dear Prudence and Julia. They both use travis picking. I break it down pretty good in the vids (so I've been told anyways).

Also I have a lesson on "Never Going Back Again" which is also travis picking.
and Landslide which is a little bit different picking pattern but quite similar.

Start with Dear Prudence and Julia and you'll get a really good understanding of what's involved.

Landslide is a simpler pattern (although it has some tough sections) and then try Never Going Back Again, although it's much more difficult.

Good luck bro!

Thanks for these tutorials, love2play. I look forward to checking them out.

Luke, the Grateful Dead popularized Me and My Uncle but I believe it was written by John Phillips.

I'll second that

Also try Townes Van Zandts "If I needed you" or Blaze Foleys "Clay Pigeons" and possibly Iris Dements "Our Town"

+1 for Mark Hanson's 'Art of Contemporary Travis Picking'! I'm currently working through this great book, full of great songs and I've noticed a big difference in the quality of my pickin'!
