I just saw a similar Martin D-41 , for $4,995 !!!!
Congrats! Looking forward to your review when you get it. How long do you think it'll be on layaway?

Depends on when I can sell some stuff I have listed on reverb.com and Facebook Marketplace. Worst case scenario is around the 1st-3rd of October I have a check coming in that would cover it. If I get lucky and sell some stuff, as early as today.....

I just saw a Martin D-45 with similar features or $9499.00

First week of October isn't bad at all. Good luck with the selling!

I'm not trying to piss on your chips... you are getting a very nice guitar but I think you need to stop comparing it to a Martin D45. They are VERY different guitars tone wise and construction. I currently have 2 Martin dreads and have owned a few more through the years. The LL16 is a great guitar in its own right and stands on its own legs. No need for the comparison. Enjoy it for what it is. My LS16 doesn't sound like a Martin OM28 and I'm fine with that.

I'm well aware of that, I'm just looking at the bling which is comparable.

The looks of the guitar are important to me. The new Yamaha looks great, my Fender Newporter, not so great, I was told last night that the mahogany finish looks like paneling....LOL !!!

I'm with you on that. It's why I bought my Epiphone EF500RANS in 2006.

On the other hand bling can be also in the wood used. My Pono...

and sometimes simplicity can't be improved on... a D18 and a D16M

That's why you need to keep acquiring to satisfy your mood swings.

Well I've had a D-18 and a D-35, a nice Pono and many guitars in between, this Yamaha's bling is just right for me now, attractive without being gaudy. After seeing Paul Simon play his guitar with the Abalone bling, I knew I wanted it. Then a week later I happened upon the Yamaha LL16D and it was just what I wanted. After playing it, I was hooked on the sound and feel of it. Each guitar is a little bit different, that is why I wanted to lock this particular guitar up until I could get my funds together. It may not be a great of a guitar as a D-45, but it sure sounded and looks better than my old D-35.

MM, it's evident that you're stoked at the prospect of your incoming Yamaha and your enthusiasm is a fine thing to see! Hope you get the guitar soon.

That’s interesting. I’ve had my Yamaha LL16D for almost 2 years now. And it’s an amazing guitar for the $$ and does hold its own to some others costing twice as much. But if I could only have one or the other, I’ll take my D-35 and it’s sound over the LL16D every time.

I suppose that’s why there’s so many choices out there.

my old D-35 had no Abalone bling, it sounded good but was plain Jane.
