Default Outfit (Jason Isbell cover)

This is an older tune by Jason Isbell. He wrote and released it when he was with band called the drive-by truckers. It’s a father talking to an adult son, and telling him don’t go down my path. While it would help to understand working class, southern United States culture for some of the references, I think the message will come through no matter where you are from. I hope you like it.

This was played into a spire studio recorder with no processing or overdubs. The guitar is mahogany topped Ibanez 240 AC.

This is great Bob. My younger son, and I were just playing a Jason Isbell tune together, maybe you’ve inspired us to record it and throw it up here. Thank you for that.

Thanks very much, Joe. I'm trying to guess what the song is. There is one I have in mind for your great vocals

Thanks, Rene. It's a great song. Jason Isbell is a little bit of a throwback to the singer songwriters that you like to cover. He has done stuff with Crosby and Prine, RIP, and Tommy Emmanuel, too. If you are interested his album Southeastern is a good place to start, lots of acoustic guitar on that one. He also rocks out pretty hard at times. My favorite rock/pop artist of his generation, for sure!
