Default Niel Gow's Lament for His Second Wife

I've done two arrangements of this over the years- acoustic bass and a solo mandola version, but this is the first time I have arranged it for acoustic guitar. In this instance it is my favourite tuning at the moment- CGDGAD. I hope you agree it is a wonderful tune. The intro and coda are my own.

Happy New Year

Very good!

Your's is the playing/recording level that I aspire to. No player noise, just music.

Thank you. I appreciate the comment. I don't know whether it was you yesterday made the comment about my room and deleted it, or whether it was somewhere else, but I find this small bedroom/ musicroom of mine to be very effective for recording. Its got wooden floors, but the room is still not too alive. I always add a bit of reverb via Logic Pro X. In this case I large chamber using Space Designer reverb. Hope I didn't overdo it. I also mike fairly closely, using a stereo USB mic (an AKG Lyra). Not the best sound but it is very simple to get recording and means I don't clutter up the space here too much with mic stands and leads and such like

Thanks again to everyone who has listened/ liked/ commented
Robbie

It was me Robbie. I wasn't sure if you had recorded the tune first in another room that was better for recording, but not good for a video and then dubbed the better sound file to the video. I did that once or twice a few years ago with a few tunes. I thought the recording was too good for the room you were in, but then I realized I can't judge the book by the cover.

Like I commented on YouTube, there are a lot of versions of this around but I’m obliged to say yours is one of the best. Great job.

Cheers,
Steve

This is so gracefully played. I love your handling of dynamics and tempo - never strained and never rushed. Kudos to you.

Well done! I know this piece well, because my daughter, now grown up and married with kids on the other side of the USA, used to play this on a Celtic harp. Beautifully done.
