Default Did Gibson make upgrades to The J-15 in 2016?

I read in an item description of a J-15 that it came upgraded by Gibson beginning 2016 whatever that means. There was no mention of what Gibson did in 2016 if they did anything at all. There was a "2016" on the truss rod cover.

I see history of The J-15's retail price being $1,799 and $1,949. Anybody know the scoop? Thanks.

Hi, Stephanie. I bought a J-15 in the summer of 2015 from Sweetwater. I think the listed price was $1499.

To the best of my knowledge, the only upgrade Gibson gave the J-15 was a sunburst finish and if memory serves, that was about 2016.

As an aside, I thought the J-15 sounded thin compared with my J-45 so I let the 15 go.

I believe 2016 was a year of many subtle changes on all the Gibson acoustics:
-Plek machine setup
-softened fret board edges
-an upgraded LR Baggs pickup

The J15, J29, and J45 Standard form that era all have 1 23/32" Slim Taper neck profiles. The J35 had a fuller rounder neck, and the J45V had a very full profile neck back then.

Thank you so much for the helpful reply. It's really appreciated. I'm sure it's useful to others as well.

I have a 2017 build.
About all I can say is the build quality is excellent in every way.
