Beautiful Doug. I like everything about it. Your videos are why I bought that same mic.

A beautiful arrangement of a beautiful Beatles song. If flows so nicely, Doug.

That's beautiful, Doug. Brilliant work.

Personally, I only use a thumbpick when I'm thumbpicking and palm-muting at the same time. If I'm not playing Chet-style, I just use my thumbnail to get a lighter bass response. Do you use a lighter touch when using a thumbpick to or do your fingers strike as hard or harder than the thumbpick?

Thanks! I use acrylic nails, so really the thumbpick balances out with the fingers a far as touch. I sometimes go without it, and I have acrylics on my thumb as well, but I find I get a more consistent bass tone with a thumbpick. I periodically try to get away from the thumbpick, and in fact, I think my first take of this tune I played with no thumbpick, and it sounded ok, but then I decided to try a take with it, and it seemed much better, so I went with it.

So I guess the answer is that I play as hard with my fingers as I do with the thumbpick, but it's not something I think about. I've been using the thumbpick for so long whatever I do as far as string balance is just automatic.

"I don't know what I do that makes it sound great, it just happens." Spoken like a true master.
