Default Si Bheag Si Mhor (Bourgeois SJ MRW)

I was unfamiliar with this traditional piece until I heard Todd Hallawell perform his beautiful arrangement on a Somogyi MD.

Here's my own version, heavily inspired by Todd's -- but played in DADGAD capo 4.

Please let me know if you think this even sounds like the "real" tune.

Thanks for listening.

Joe

Very nice melody on this tune thus one of the few I did an arrangement of on one of my CDs. Good job though I would cut the reverb down a few notches.

Sounds good to me, I also really like your playing on Amazing Grace. Can I get an Amen!

Very smooth and mellow. This is one of my favorite Irish tunes to play. I also play it in DADGAD self arranged slightly up tempo. Your Bourgeois really sounds nice, beautiful recording. Ed

You've got the touch Joe! Beautiful arrangement and guitar playing and your Bourgeois SJ sounds stellar!

Thank you all for listening and posting.

Today is the second day that I play this tune -- and I've already found a lot of new ways to let the strings resonate and improve my phrasing. I've been playing this tune over and over for hours now.

I'll record a better version soon -- hopefully with a bit less reverb...

Thanks again.

Joe

Thanks Bud!

I'm getting better with the SJ -- but I still had to re-do the recording a few times. It's rather unforgiving as the slightest glitch can be heard very clearly.

Thank you!

I've played this tune at least 50 times today. It's growing on me as well...

Nice going. This is one of my favorite tunes as well. I play an arrangement in dropped d but started working on my own.
Your recording is beautiful; I don't think you need to change a thing.

I have at least a half dozen arrangements of that tune and yours stands up well. Your recorded sound is good too, I like a little reverb.

Good job!
