Default weird tuning for an FFH song

I've been learning "The First Noel" (I think this version is by FFH), and the only way I can get their fingerstyle intro, is if I tune the G string down *3* half-steps (to E). Has anyone ever run into such a tuning before?

How hard can music be? There's only 12 notes.

sounds like a capo on the second fret.... can't be sure tho as I don't know the version you're talking about but it seems a reasonable guess

...turns out there is such a tuning...it's called "dropped G". It's been used by Nick Drake, as well as John Hiatt
