Two suggestions.

1) Keep the Strats configured as they are
2) Spend the next few years chasing tone through pedals

If you follow this advice, you will *not* thank me

Ditto I suggest start with this one Not only is it a fairly clean drive/boost BUT given it has a Bass -Mid Range and Treble controls, you can do a lot of tone shaping

I have a couple of American Strats. I put in Seymour Duncan Hotrails neck/bridge in one of them and left the other stock (although I may have put a Texas Special in the bridge... I'll have to check). Gives me more options.

So, you can always change pickups in one of them to give you a different tone. Not just a single coil swap for another single coil but put in a humbucker or rail pickup.

let's talk about your amp is that a blues jr I see off to the side, or something similar?

So yea.. what are you running it thru?
are you using any pedals? (compressors, over drive pedals, delays?)
yeah, i have two fender tube amps, the Pro Junior (pictured) and a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue (late 90s) both great, both need servicing. i'm not using pedals these days, but on the Deluxe Reverb I run the THD Hotplate attenuator which is amazing tone, but causes me to go through tubes faster...

Any suggestions for skipping amps altogether and running direct to PA? I know that sounds crazy, but just curious if there are effects that would get me a great clean tone that way.

I did the whole tube comb thing for a decade of live shows in NYC, in the late 90s - 2010, kind of over that and curious what tech has come out since that might allow me to skip the combo amp altogether...

Try adjusting the pickups. But first measure what you have.

the Deluxe is about as good as any one needs.

but if you need more "punch" at lower volumes, I'd consider moving over to relying on a good over drive. There's so many to chose from...

compressors can do a lot too, they can be over used, but in the right setup, they are pretty good as a way to get some sustain with out "dirt" or gain.
