Trade my D-18 for a 000-18?

Earlier this year, replaced my last Dread with an amazing OM18.

It’s a custom shop and not only is it more comfortable than my D18, it sounds incredible and easily fulfills my loudness jones.

The combination of adi top and hog body make for an articulate and fairly loud instrument.

Very nice but a bit out of my budget. Hoping to have not too much delta between the new and old.

If you're willing to trade the bass for a more focused, and to my ear a more interesting sound, I'd make the trade.

I have two dreads and two OMs. All four are exceptional guitars. But I reach first for the OMs, and they get much of the playing time. If I had to keep just one guitar, without doubt, it would be my rosewood OM.

I traded my D-15 in on a martin 000-18 - never looked back. Great guitar, it's a keeper.

I’m a rookie like you, OP...and will turn 60 in August. I just recently had surgery on my left wrist for tendon issues, and am feeling what probably is arthritis coming in that left thumb & right shoulder. I’d love to have a D-18...but I recently bought a nice 00-18 that is amazing, and very comfy to play as well. Try one...I think you’ll like it.

I've only ever owned dreadnoughts but first to admit that a smaller guitar is easier to play. (I've played a few on the side).

In my humble opinion, I see no down side to trading for a 000-18. I have a D-18SV 12 fret, but do enjoy a smaller guitar at times. The 000 is a great guitar in many respects.

Did a similar search some years back. Ended up with a Froggy Bottom H12. The closest competition was a Martin 000-28 GE. A 12 fret, but not a wimpy string feel. Out of production. But if you can find one used -- rich sound and a pleasure to play.

And I agree with above that the CEO-7 is a pleasure.

I had a D-18 which I absolutely loved but, the size was troublesome with time. I picked up the 000-18 and wanted for nothing. So much tone but, in a smaller package.

*Full disclosure - it’s my 000-18 for sale in the classies. If not for horrible property tax bills in IL, I would not be selling it.
