Default Spamghetti sauce

I finally did it . Had a single thin slice left over . I diced it up and fried it before adding to the regular sauce . I like it ! Quite tasty actually .

While I'm just going to take your word for it on this one, SPAM gets a bad rap, but it's actually pretty tasty stuff.

On the doctored up Spaghetti sauce front, stirring some shredded/chopped up pot roast into a cheap jarred marinara is a fantastic way to use up leftovers.

It must be a generational thing. Meat that comes in a can is all suspect to me.

Some of the flavored ones are quite good. Teriyaki, and the Bacon.

Growing up, we did not have much and I think Spam was my main protein source! I survived quite well thank you Hormel.

Spam contains preservatives. Eat some and live longer. It's simple science.

Made a sort of Greek Bolognese yesterday.

1/4 lb best minced lamb, (for two)
some mushrooms
2 onions, (homegrown)
5-6 garlic cloves (homegrown)
3 sweet peppers (rough chopped)
2 dried chilies (home grown)
pitted green Greek olives.
oregano, rosemary, sage (homegrown)
Vegetable stock, tom puree, red wine, tun italian peeled toms,
olive oil.
grated cheddar cheese (British of course)
150 g wholemeal spaghetti.

Using a wok or similar - with olive oil, fry onions until soft, add lamb, mushroom and peppers, stir fry until all soft and cooked.
Add can of tomatoes, and stir in, add veg stock (app 1/4 pint), with red wine, herbs, crushed garlic and flaked chili skins, and stir in.
Allow to cool and reduce forat least one hour.

Cook spaghetti until al dente.
reheat sauce until bubbling but not burnt, add more red wine.
Serve spaghetti, serve main sauce in wok, sprinkle olives on top
Grated cheese with sundried tomatoes, black pepper, and black olives.

Serve with light red wine a preferred.

There was a good portion left over which I had in a sandwich this afternoon - even better!

The only way I'll eat Spam is fried on a potato roll, with ketchup - had it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at one time or another...

As far as the spamghetti sauce thing goes, where I live people who do things like that tend to wind up as the weekly special at Satriale's Butcher Shop...

SPAM in the can is just simply good stuff!
I like it raw on white bread - yummy!
Fried for breakfast meat is almost as good as bacon.
