Default A Potato Battery Can Light Up a Room For Over a Month

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innov...onth-180948260

Just waiting for someone to develop a 100% green, potato-powered guitar amplifier; consider the implications:
  • Not enough power for the gig - no problem, just grab another spud or two...
  • Don't like your tone - swap out those L.I. taters for something from Maine, Idaho, or P.E.I. ...
  • Ideal for hardcore off-the-grid living - no batteries, no generator, not even a solar cell...
  • Just the ticket if you ever decide to go busking in Ireland...
  • Best of all, "frying your amp" is an experience you can actually look forward to...

You've been drinking some of that potato based distilled beverage, haven't you.

LOL. PEI for me. They're grown in red dirt which increases the mids in your tone.

I'm more a single-malt guy, Marty - and if they ever produce something that runs on Laphroaig Quarter-Cask (other than the player ) I'm in...

Article says $9 per kW-hr!

Dang. That's literally 100 times more than I pay for electrons in my neck of the woods.

Article makes no mention of how many Amp-hours the potato is good for. I'd really be curious what that number is.

How many potatoes does it take to boil the water you need to boil your potatoes to make them put out more electrons???

Well, I don't buy it. I tried to light up my room with some mashed potatoes but the gravy seemed to short it out. I'll have to review the directions....

Yesterday I should have said I'm waiting for the tater battery technology.

For context, I was waiting for car service at the Subaru dealer. Their wait area is between new and used car sales. Salespeople in both areas were certain I needed to trade in our 2013 car. Except for one guy, no one wanted to listen vs hear my saying the low mileage car has a lot of life left in it, and worse, how I want that car for the few years that will produce far more and likely better choices for battery powered cars.

It was all kind of funny because the one guy who got it used to be a bicycle shop owner. He was the only one who understood my hybrid driving system of carry a bike with the car. He was best informed or at least most truthful about the future of cars.

The experience made me think sales are slowing down and Tesla's become a very real threat for some of their sales.

I don't care if it's tater powered, but I know enough Tesla owners to be sure we'll be moving to one car battery powered. Last week I had to stop for gasoline at 6 AM on a cold morning and my Model 3 owning friend pointed out he left home with a full tank and pretty much instantly warm car.

So does this mean Ireland is going to be the new Saudi Arabia?
