B diminished slash A chord help please

B diminished slash A chord

I am looking at a version of Lightfoot's" ghost of Cape Horn" song:

There is a part that goes like:"see them all in sad repair demons dancing everywhere"

The version I came across uses various forms of the A chord in that line including a B diminished slash A chord

I can't seem to find out what it looks like(I have been trying Asus4 instead and it sounds ok)

Try a Bb/A x 0 3 3 3 x

Or Bbmaj7/A x 0 3 2 3 x

Seems like the B Flat slash A is the best

Yeah,it's a tricky little part and Gord uses a lot of special chords with the middle strings( are you there Gord?)

I'm only just beginning to learn about inversions, but based on what I just read over the weekend (how a Bdim chord is constructed), the notation of "Bdim/A" would indicate an inversion of Bdim with an A in the bass. I don't have a guitar in reach, but I don't think that would sound right, because an A is not a part of a Bdim chord to begin with, and because A and B are a so close (a major second) from each other, they would clash.

Such as x00x01 does not sound bad IMO but it's a chord passing through to another chord. Have not listened to the particular song in this thread.

Lightford played pretty much everything with capo on 2nd fret. So you may also have to determine if that's the chord with or without capo.

The 4-chord sequence of those two lines ("See them all in sad repair, demons dance everywhere") sounds to me like - assuming capo on 2:

A = x-0-2-2-2-0
Bdim/A = Dm6/A = x-0-3-4-3-(0) (possible open 1st string)
A7 = x-0-2-0-2-0
F/A = x-0-3-2-1-1
