Default Where to buy a Guitar in Bali??

Hey Guys and Gals,

Im heading to Bali Next week and I'm just wondering if anyone knows where I might find a bargain guitar or something interesting.
I know Blueberry guitars are made there.
Whats the chance of finding one on the street from a "local" for a nice price

Cheers

Jasko

The reason the owner of Blueberry started the factory there was he found no end of great woodworkers that were counting on a non existant tourist trade. Something about terorrist bombings or some such thing.....
But, he could not find a decent guitar.
I think a Blueberry would be a perfect memento from the trip. I test drove a Mahogany Sitka a few years ago. The fit and finish were ok, the eagle carving was nuts, but the tone was fantastic.

Don't know if this will help, but the first place I'd look would be the internet.

Seriously, I'd go straight to the local shop, if there is one, and ask if there are any local builders around.

I listened to the audio samples for the two that are currently for sale on ebay. Wow! Do they really sound like that? They have a sort of shimmer that's very unique.

Wira Music; near Kuta. They have some yamaha, maybe Ibanez, and some Chinese clones of ovation, etc

Tom Music Center; next to BIMC hospital (near Hypermart) have some pricier Yamahas.

Anima Music; specialize in Cort guitars. They are located in the area of Bali called "anima". On a sidestreet but a big sign says Anima Music Cort.
I played a cort sfx that had very nice tone and action. prices for name brand guitars are about the same as in US(ebay) new, some higher.

cant remember names of other shops.

OK, at Ramayana Mall in Denpasar, believe it or not the sporting goods store ground level had some decent guitars; cort, yamaha, classical

Nobody even heard of blueberry and none of the shops had them. I don't think you will ever see one for sale in a Bali shop cause they are meant for export sales. The taste in guitars of Indonesian musicians is for american/euro style guitars. I highly doubt they would choose that design. additionally the local market owuld not handle those prices either or would need to be drastically reduced to a local market realistic price.

Didn't the Little Rascals go to Borneo .. and Alfalfa was getting down with
Lorna. Or was that Spanky. I remember that the Rascal with the weird hair was singing "I'm in the mood for love" .. Ya don't think, couldn't be.. that was a while ago .. A Blueberry ? Huum..

Thumbs up Yudelele travel guitar

In case anyone's going to Bali and looking for a guitar, there's a new guitar maker on the island called Yudelele. They're specializing in handmade custom and travel guitars.

The Yudelele is their special thing, it's smaller than a regular guitar but bigger than a ukulele, plays like a normal guitar and sounds amazing. (yes I got one myself). They have normal and other custom guitars too in their shop in Canggu.

You can find them on Facebook if you search for yudelele or go to

www.yudelele.com

Hope someone will find this helpful
