Ditto for the side preference--I've never actually seen one placed on the front as you've shown it.

Greta with Engelmann on Indian Rosewood
Here are some pictures of the Greta model I just got back from the finisher.
It has an Engelmann top with Indian Rosewood back, sides, and neck. The guitar is trimmed with Bloodwood: This guitar has a particularly sparkly Engelmann top which I'm trying to capture in this photo. Top woods don't normally get the attention that back and side woods do but this one is certainly calling for some attention: Here is something new we're trying to work in on this guitar. I just got these antiqued copper Gotoh 510 minis. The red in the tuner should go well with the Bloodwood. We need to decide if I'll put Bloodwood buttons on the tuners: I'll have this one all strung up soon! Mark

My goodness, that Englemann is beautiful. Don't think I have seen such a nice top like that before.

Finished Greta Engelmann/Indian Rosewood
I strung the Indian Rosewood Greta up yesterday and took some pictures this morning:
I really like the dark look of the Indian Rosewood neck. Good way to add some sustain to a guitar: I'm still really impressed with the sparkle of this Engelmann top!: We went with the shiny gold Gotoh 510 minis and I made up a set of Bloodwood buttons for it. This guitar has the sculpted pillow top headstock: The tile rosette is Indian Rosewood, spalted Tamrind, and Bloodwood: The bridge and fretboard are Indian Rosewood: This is where I get to play the guitar for a week or so until I'm comfortable that it knows it's a guitar. I'll try to get a recording up of it this weekend because pictures are fine but, it's the sound we're really going for and I'm very happy with this one!: Thanks for viewing! Mark

Sound Clip
Thanks cigarfan, TomB'sox and ross748!
I had Mike Neverisky record some soundclips for me on this guitar. I have a couple but, just finished putting this one up on YouTube. It's a little ragtime: Thanks for listening! Mark

Awesome builds Mark. I listened to the clips of the BRW and Swiss Spruce compared to the Indian RW and Engleman spruce. Both sound beautiful, but to my ear there is more of a crystaline clarity to the tone of the BRW guitar. To what do you attribute this ? Woods (top vs B&S) ? Guitar body style ? Makers secrets ?
John

I'm glad you can detect that difference in these guitars. The difference is to accommodate the request of two different clients. The BRW Josie is for someone who already owns several BRW guitars and loves what BRW are known for being that more crystalline sound and a little more of a natural reverb. My client for the Indian Rosewood Greta was looking for a guitar with more of a low end leaning. So what's different in the guitars? Well, the BRW client got a BRW back and side which I matched with a bit stiffer Swiss Moon Spruce top and voicing. The Greta, looking for bigger bass, got the Indian Rosewood which already tends to lean that way and a bit softer Engelmann top voiced more for monopole. I really do try to give them what they ask for! Mark

October Open Studio Tour
I was putting some plans together for the open studio tour I'm participating in this October and I made a compilation playlist of various YouTubes that feature my guitars. Most were ones I've made and there are a couple client ones as well. The quality varies, especially on mine as I work on my recording set up and skills. Take a look!
