Albon in the 2nd Red Bull did a great job too - 17th to 5th.
Yes, that's right. He popped on a new set of tires on lap one during safety car. But keeping him on that single set of tires did him in. Odd strategy, basically a 'no stop' strategy from a tire POV.

And yep, no doubt the bosses at Red Bull were thrilled with Albon's assertiveness.

Great race - though I would have preferred not to see Verstappen take himself out and ruin Kimi's day as well...JMO.

Perhaps RB wasn't expecting Daniel to get to the end, thinking he would have packed in at some point.

This. That shunt was not Kimi's fault.

Very strange ending to the final qualifying session at the Italian Grand Prix.

Renault finally showing some promise, P5 & 6.

What's strange? LeClerc got his second pole in succession!

I wonder why they don’t stagger the drivers every 10 seconds or so rather than letting them all choose when to release.

I wonder why every team chose to release at the very end with only a 10 second margin until time out.

Crazy!

But as a West Aussie, I’m thrilled that Daniel is in top 5. I’m hopeful for a podium if the engine can hold up.

Well I hope you've been following the cricket too - it's been a great Ashes Test so far.
.. and the AFL finals have started.

yup, I really don;t like this new strategy - everyone out at once, all looking for a tow from someone, anyone in front.
I know that qualifying is really just a "second event" to the race, for the Saturday audience but surely the fastest lap times should be done without using other cars for "tows".

I think new rules need to stop this.
However, I've prepared the evening meal ready to go in the oven later and so I'm off to the gym shortly, intending to get back in time for the race.

Sorry to see Mad Max at the back, but I still expect great things from him.

Is Raikkonen past his peak? At least he was man enough to admit that it wasn't the track or anyone else - just his mistake.

Past his peak?!?!?!? Look at what he is doing with that Sauber/Alfa! I think that Mr. Giovinazzi might not see Kimi as being off his game....

Good race. Both Hamilton and Bottas had their shots at Leclerc, and both locked up going into the chicane. For his part, LeClerc might have been guilty of a little blocking, but he got away with it and got the win.

Whilst I don't particularly support any single team, Ferrari have not been my preferred team, but all credit to Charle Leclerc, he did what he had to and beat of both the Mercs.

An exciting race but that skid off and re-entry by Vettel in front of Stroll's car and it could have been an incident like the Hubert T-bone impact.

Anyway, A fun race, and somewhat makes up for the shameful qualifying of Saturday.

Great job by Leclerc to fend off the Mercs.

Vettel needs to get his head together, too many mistakes and completely outclassed by the teams "2nd" driver. I can't see him playing second fiddle to Leclerc and I can't see him going to a mid table team.

Retirement?
