Default For you guitar lovers....

This has always been one of my favorite songs that I've written:

HOLDING THIS GUITAR

The best Christmas morning of my life I was holding this guitar
Watching my brother throw his new football with Dad out in the yard
Then Momma said “Wait, I think you got one more!”
And I saw that Roy Clark Big Note Songbook on the floor
My Brother did real good he was a Friday night star
But me..I’m up here on this stage…holding this guitar

I lost my first job…holding this guitar
The boss dropped by and caught me playing and said “You’re fired!”
It wasn’t a good job and I cried and acted mad
Mainly I just dreaded tellin’ Mom and Dad
They said I had to learn so they took away my car
I sat in my room three weeks…holding this guitar

It makes the good times better
And it’ll help you thru the bad
You know it’s always been the best friend I’ve ever had
We shared a lot of tears and spent a lot of time
Trying to find a chord or the right word to rhyme
When some girl broke my heart
Instead of holding on to her…I was holding this guitar

The first time I ever saw the ocean I was holding this guitar
An over night drive with a few buddies in an old Dodge car
We played it on the beach got a little loud
I didn’t know it but my future wife was in that crowd
It must a had something to do with the moon and stars
Cause’ she said she had to meet that guy…holding this guitar

(bridge)
I know heaven’s real and it’s really not that far
And I pray when I see it…I’ll hear God say son come on in..
…..and he’ll be holding THIS guitar

Cause it makes the good times better
And it helps you thru the sad
You know it’s always been the best friend I’ve ever had
We shared a lot of tears and spent a lot of time
Trying to find a chord or the right word to rhyme
Now this may sound bizaar….but I hope….when I die..
…..I’m holding this guitar….

I relate to so much of what you have here

thank you for sharing, took my mind off my own job's toils and challenges

and of course now, I want to go play my guitar.

so yep that song WORKED!
