Yeah that's another I would love to try out, but it's not that easy to find slabs of spanish cedar in the quality I'm looking for. And neck blanks from suppliers are too small

Finishing has begun
While building this experimental piece I was thinking it needs to be shiny. I'm presonally not a fan of shiny guitars, they loose the feel of wooden object. And that's just my personal oppinion, yours may and should vary
Back on track...so shiny guitar that feels natural? Yep I've decided to french polish it. And to be completely honest, I have no idea what I'm doing, but it feels like I'm getting better at it and it's fun! This is not at all a finished finish I just want to share my progress and get your oppinions on this. The neck is finished in hardwax oil. I don't want to sacrifice the comfort of satin neck. And it doesn't even look that out of place to have satin meet the polished pieces. I mean, c'mon look at those medullary rays! I'm thinking of leaving the pores open, I really enjoy the look of it. What do you think?

Wow
I too love the looks of the neck.
The open pores on the back don’t bother me at all. Even though I almost always agree with TomB Lovely guitar!!! Paul

I really like the looks of this, both on the neck and the body. It has an organic feel which really appeals to me!

I'll see where I end up, as I said, I'm a newbie when it comes to french polishing, maybe by the time I get to a nice finish, the pores will be filled.

That's really good to hear form someone outside. I've been questioning if the french polish only feels organic because I want it to.
