Default Audigo Labs Bluetooth Mic - A Short Review (Spoiler: WOW!)

On Black Friday, I took a chance on the Audigo Labs wireless mic. I had seen it advertised on social media with pretty stellar reviews. When it arrived, I was pretty blown away by it in a way that's rare for me in purchasing gear.

Basically, it's a digital bluetooth mic coupled with Audigo's proprietary iOS and Android studio app to create high fidelity digital audio and video....fast. The trick seems to be that the mic has internal memory to store the audio files and then sync with the video you create in their app. No more having to pull audio and video in a program post-recording a sync everything up.

The app accommodates multi-track recording and has some post-recording EQ and effects you can.

This video below is one that I shot this morning. Pretty much one take so pardon the sloppy playing. Add a bit of reverb and saved the video to my phone. The whole thing took about 3 minutes. It took longer to upload it YouTube than to make the video.

Yes, video was shot on my iPhone 12 using the Audigo Labs app. Once you finish the recording, it pulls the audio from the internal storage of the mic via WiFi and syncs everything up for you. You can then add FX, EQ, etc. and save the video to your iOS "Photos" app (or Android equivalent) and you're done.

Hey that is pretty cool
So it looks like it is set up mid side and then you can adjust the stereo width on the App ?

PS I like that shot your video horizontal For some reason the vertical orientation just look weird to me

Any reason you shot in 1080 rather than 4K ? Or can the app only do 1080 video ?

The app definitely accommodates 4K, I just went 1080 because I wanted to keep the file size smaller for this quick demo.

Hey, great video, super interesting I was wanting to buy one, but there are 2 things stopping me.

1)I saw online that it does not have the android compatibility yet (I use samsung phones)

2) I do not like the subscription it makes you pay to use it, I hate monthly payments. Do you pay the subscription??

1) Understandable. I'm a longtime Apple user, but I get it. If you're on Android, this might not be the best product.

2) No, I don't use the subscription. Per their website, all that gets you is "100GB of automatic cloud backup, project collaboration, auto soundcheck and compression & delay effects." Those aren't features I need/want. I'm just using the mic and the app, which work great.

I have an old iPad, like, maybe seven years old; do you think it would work with it? I know little about Apple stuff.

Your 12-string sounds fantastic, what brand/model is it? edit: Never mind, looked like a Guild and then I see that in your sig. Sweet!

What iOS are you running? And what type/gen iPad is it?

Nice playing, first of all…and very interesting little device. Definitely fills a niche for video production WITHOUT the need for video-editing software or separate cameras.

That's a great sound, but alas, I'm an Android user also.

I bought the set of four (for $100 off) and they arrived today. I’m still just messing with it, so I don’t have too much to add just yet, but they are already very cool!

First of all, the mics on these sound amazingly good. It is a mid side configuration with one cardiod mic pointing forward, and a second figure 8 mic pickup up the sides. That is why you can adjust the stereo width after recording. Nothing else would be important if the built in mics didn’t sound good, but they really do!

I love that you can use the onboard button for starting and stopping the video.

I got it without the subscription. I hate subscriptions. Without the subscription, you have to set the audio record levels manually and don’t have access to the delay effect. Neither are a big deal, but it seems to me they should be enabled without the subscription.

Pairing was easy and fast. I’ve only tried it with two so far, but they worked exactly as advertised.

There is a firmware update, which is easy enough to do from the app. I did that for all four.

The multitrack export works well, and you can airdrop it. It gives you a quick time video with a stereo mix (with effects I believe), and then an audio file for each track. Editing in a regular NLE video editor will work fine.

You can also do audio only recording, which would let you use a better camera. Though it would make more sense to shoot video anyway to have a different angle, and to make syncing easier.

I will do more tomorrow when the light is better, and maybe have something to post then.

This is really groundbreaking stuff. You can record really good videos with multiple audio tracks with practically no setup… and it sounds really good! Amazingly good really!

I just did multi track for the first time this morning with it! Will be nice if they release a way to record a second video and maybe embed it in the first one, I would have liked to capture myself playing the lead on this one, even though I missed a note here or there lol.

You could export the audio and import it into a new project. But that negates the ease of use of doing it all in the app!
