I'm with you on Avatar, but Pulp Fiction...one of my all time faves!

Dr. Detroit, worst movie I ever saw. If you've never heard of it, there's a reason for that.

Yikes. That is pretty pathetic. Seems like they went out of their way to distract from the movie theme.
I'll make sure to stay away from that one.

On the subject: A couple of weeks ago I was watching "The Invisible Man" (2020) on HBO.
Awful movie. Stay away from that one.

That message was definitely there, especially in Clancy Brown and Michael Ironside's characters and the pseudo-Nazi outfit of Neil Patrick Harris.

Default WAR HORSE

I think there are a lot of movies and whole categories of movies that are and expected to be awful (talking-baby movies, Beverly Hills Chihuahua movies, low-budget CGI Barbie movies), but the worst ones are those that you end up watching because they should and could be good, but turn out to be surprisingly and disappointingly awful. A prime example of that is War Horse. It's Spielberg who while far from perfect is generally considered a master. He often gets melodramatic, a little corny, and manipulative, and War Horse unbearably took those terrible traits and dialed them up. I rolled my eyes for the whole movie.

Old as I am, I’ve seen most all the “classic” worst-of films.... Gems like Plan Nine From Outer Space and Zontar, the Thing From Venus.

Also the one set on an island with the walking-tree monster.. (“From Hell It Came”.... I just looked it up)

Another gem was “Gor”. As one critic said, “They took a book that was all about bondage and slavery and took all the bondage and slavery out....”

But the worst contemporary movie I actually watched was the National Lampoon’s European Vacation.... Not only could you see all the jokes coming from miles away, they weren’t funny when they arrived.

In the 1970s I saw something called "Mark of the Devil", which tuned out to be a period piece whose minimal plot seemed designed as an excuse for endless torture scenes. I walked out halfway through--the only time I ever did that. I don't want to meet the person who could actually enjoy such a film.

There are lots of more innocuous Honorable Mentions in this category. For example, we rented "Burn Before Reading" and "Horrible Bosses" at different times, and turned them both off within a few minutes. Lots of people seemed to like those, but we didn't find them funny at all.

Hard to believe, but having never seen Ishtar I'll take your word for it rather than risk viewing something potentially worse than Zardoz.

Eraserhead.

And at the time I took my son to see it, Kung Pow, Enter The Fist. I wanted my 50 cents back. But he bought the DVD and it grew on me. It became quite a quotable movie. But it’s really really terrible, yet still makes me laugh.

Yeah I enjoyed those back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Bur his self-produced comeback movies are absolutely terrible.

I'm pretty sure that when someone starts a thread of "The Best Movies You've Ever Seen", half of the ones I've seen people trashing here will be all over the "Best" list...
