Sean Connery, for sure. But, none of them are the same character as the one in the novels.

100%.....same for me. Our school put it on in the assembly hall when I was in about 6th grade. We loved the movie..& Ursula Andress.

I like that Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig seem to be darker like the book character. But I gotta give some love to Roger M. because he brought more of a humorous and romantic edge. Plus he was in my two favs; Live and Let Die (which had my fav theme song by Sir Paul) and For Your Eyes Only (which had my fav Bond girl, Carole Bouquet).

That's it. Roger Moore was too campy, and he could barely move in the last couple due to his bad back. Craig is good, but its just a bunch of elaborate action scenes. Brosnan had the best balance.

They need better villains.

Sean Connery for me, as well... with Daniel Craig as a close second, although Daniel doesn't really "fit" the written image of Bond very well.

No, it's Sean Connery, for sure!

I'm not a big fan of the Bond movies, once they veered so far away from the books and became more about the "spectacular" contrived visuals than the story and the acting... I still think "they" could put out the original storylines in movies and they'd be great fun to watch!

These are my choices.

Craig is compelling to watch, but when I see his films, I miss the humor and lightness that others have brought to the role (some of that might be attributable to the newer scripts having a darker tone).

Connery was the best at portraying the blend of intensity and ease/humor. Brosnan a close second.

I recently watched the Daniel Craig Bond films and while I do like them they’re missing something that makes them James Bond films....in someways they come across as good, almost generic, action movies.

Agree. What we're watching is the Jason Bournification of the Bond character. The original was no superman.

I agree that Craig's Bond is a more intense, less humorless character. But I think the problem is that the tacky, misogynistic James Bond character of the Roger Moore era wouldn't fly today, so he had to get re-invented or face becoming a parody of itself.

Too late I'm afraid.
