Talking 1891 D. B ROCKWELL 7/8 VIOLIN

1891 D B ROCKWELL VIOLIN. Scale length- 7/8 Violin- 12 11/16’s. 4/4- 13 inches

For your consideration, a very rare treasure made by one of America’s Premier violin Makers of the 19th Century. This is a 7/8 violin, 22 5/8 inches in length and is in very good condition. It has been inspected and set up by a local Violin Shop ( the back separation was repaired) and was described as a very fine instrument. D.B (David Bailey) Rockwell built this instrument in Boston in 1891, during the time Boston was the mecca for outstanding American instruments. Rockwell excelled in building instruments that mimic Italian masters. The Violin comes with an old bow(maker unknown) and a new Tonareli Case. Price is $1750 with Buyer paying actual shipping and any fees. Have lots of pics so just email me at [email protected]
Below is a prior description of the previous owner.....

David Bailey Rockwell, died 1925, though originally from Maine, worked in Boston 1878-1895, where this violin was made. His work is regarded as excellent and his violins command premium prices.I noted that one auction his violin exceeded estimate by several thousand.I am not an expert but purchased this from the nephew of Mr. Rockwell. The violin comes with an old case and bow.The back of violin is absolutely gorgeous. If you have questions just ask.The violin has a well repaired crack on top, peg head has a repair and bottom of back shows a separation. The back is 13 1/2 inches a 7/8.
