Default Gibson J-100 in spruce/sycamore..value?

I ran across a wonderful example of a 92 Gibson J-100 the other day. It is made of Sycamore (also called European Maple) from a small supply that Gibson had back in the late 80s to early 90 s.

The condition is excellent and the sound is just tremendous. Very clear voice with a mature maple-like voice.

It is black as Gibson painted most of these due to a rather blah grain pattern of this particular species of wood. Everything is original, very little fret wear.

Just wondering what these might be worth in today’s market. I’m considering a purchase, but don’t want to over spend, while still being fair to the seller.

Thanks,
Roger

Found one listed on Reverb for $2600. The price might be a little inflated.

I saw that one too. It’s a fancier model than the one I am looking at. Not sure how to compare prices though.

Thanks for looking into this and posting, Old Gaffer.

$1500-$1700 would be a fair range IMO. Sold my bubinga one for $1500 in 2016. There isn't a huge market for J-100s it seems (aka it's not a J-200 or a J-45 or a Hummingbird) and this one is in a non-standard wood combo which also makes it less desirable to your "average" buyer. But prices are inflated now so who knows?

Are these like the J-150? I’m looking for one similar to the one Nick Lowe uses

I have purchased two in the last two years for $1500 each ...and they are worth way more than that. Superb guitars. One of mine is your black, and one is sunburst.
