I own a Martin D-18E Retro that has aging toner in the finish. It looks just like the finish of your guitar.

My '78 M38 had aging toner. By '06, when I sold it, it had turned a bit orangish. To say it that way sounds awful, but it looked just fine. My '06 Goodall has a poly finish and a POC top and is quite dark now. Not much different than the M38. It started nearly white.

I've spoken to a couple larger MFG reps over the years. If you gave him a serial#, unless he's being deliberately dishonest, all he can really do is read off of a spec sheet.
