Default Smile | Charlie Chaplin

Is there any better New Year's resolution than to ?

I remember watching these movies with my father when I was a kid ("Smile" is
the Main Theme of "Modern Times"). I had many a good laugh with the Tramp
and his adventures.
Years later, I was re-introduced to this tune as a well-known Standard to many jazz musicians.
Playing it again recently I felt that it makes for a very nice Solo Guitar arrangement in this laid-back style:

I wish everyone a healthy and successful 2022!

Nicely done. Worth a longer version.

Thanks for helping me out here, Derek. I did this in between in students and still need to get acquainted with the system here...

Thank you very much, Glenn! I absolutely enjoyed your rendition of the Carole King song. Great guitar / sound and singing. I can totally relate as my girlfriend is a King/Taylor-Fan too and I did a cover of "Natural Woman" for her birthday.
I'll be sure to check out your music on Youtube in the next teaching break

Nice! Totally worth listening to. You are feeding my interest in a nylon-stringed guitar...

Thanks everybody! Really nice to get such positive feedback around here even though this forum is mostly about steel strings. Very warm vibe!

Truly beautiful.
Your talent in finger style/jazzy guitar playing is absolutely way up there.
I love the rendition of this timeless and lovely tune.
Smile - I need to do more of this SMILE, even under the cover of our masks.
Thanks for sharing.
Rene

Many thanks, Rene, really nice words!
And, yes, certainly worth remembering to have a positive attitude these days. Playing guitar luckily makes it come naturally!
