Oh man, that is rough Bob. Get well soon and it sounds like most of the therapies are already being undertaken. Hopefully you will be able to pick up the guitar very soon.

Enough full contact session work Bob. Sorry to hear about your spill and hope you'll take it easy for a while!

Oh, ouch! Sounds like you are in good hands (RN/MSN wife, too - planned well ahead ). Best wishes for [relatively] fast mending.

Anyway, a combined fall essentially shortened my parents' lives and ruined their last few years, so ever since then I have developed what I consider to be a healthy neurosis about falling. I do yoga regularly, being sure to include balancing poses.

And my # 1 and # 2 rules are:
1) ALWAYS look where you are going, and
2) Don't fall down! (Used to be #1 until I walked into something that could have turned out a lot worse than it did, plus the new #1 helps with #2...)
- corollary - use hand rails on stairs, and if possible have them on both sides of stairs in your house, especially poorly lit ones!

In addition I've tried really hard to stop doing things that simply add risk, e.g. I have decided that hiring someone to trim the trees is a lot cheaper than the downside of me falling down trying to save a few hundred $.

P.S. I guess you did get the recording done, though? Get paid enough to pay for your tylenol?

Ouch! Get well soon Bob. Lesson? Handrails are your friend! I have a fun habit of failing up and down stairs regularly so if there is a handrail or two I always use it.

I checked out the jacket I was wearing during the fall and there is paint rubbed off on the elbow of the sleeve. Apparently I reached out for the rail it too late!

Yeowch! Sorry to hear about this, Bob. Hope you heal fast and mend fully.

Speaking only for myself, the older I get, the longer it takes to heal... still, I seem to feel the need to test that now and then.

Sending good vibes your way.

Ouch, lots of rest, ice, and anti-inflammatories on the menu. Get well and glad nothing more than your pride got permanently wounded.

Great writing, Bob, and thank you for sharing. I felt like I went down those stairs with you.... ugh!

Sounds like it could have been much worse, and I'm really glad it wasn't. We lost a lot of family last year. My wife and I were talking last night. You never know when the last time will be. You never know when things will change. As I get older, I'm getting better at appreciating every day I have and trying to do something meaningful with it.

Hope you heal up nicely and quickly.
