Horses for courses. It's fine for some jobs, but it's an amp Compared to a PA system.

I’ve been very happy with me EV 30M. Built in mixer, plenty of power, and just sounds wonderful.

Maybe you should be more specific if you say „these linear systems“.
There are real line arrays that make a crowd of 100.000 party.
This thread is about column arrays. Those columns are simply not long enough to be a real line array.
There are tiny column arrays and quite powerful ones. The more powerful ones will blow away any „subless“ 10“ or 12“ 2-way speaker easily.

Where they shine is dispersion. No matter
Where you are in a room you can hear it the same. I think bose can get harsh when pushed.
Ev seems better to me at louder volumes.
But at those volumes a k12 I think rules.
Less ear fatigue. And of course the convenience
Of setup ,weight and space is better with the col
Arrays. You can position them so the can act as
Monitors as well. They have distinct advantages
Over powered speakers..I just dont think sound
Quality is one of them.

What's everyone's opinion of the Yamaha Stagepas 1K
A nearby music shop have some available, and for the moment they come supplied with the little trolley. Covers are included as well, which is an additional cost for the Maui products.

Basic EQ, limited routing, no phantom power.

That'll be sorted with my Yamaha MG10XU mixer. No issues there.

As mentioned before, looks to be only one distributor of them into Australia, and they are more expensive than both the Yamaha Stagepas, and the Maui 28 G2. Being based in Tasmania, I have limited places that I can look at systems, hence why the 1k has all of a sudden raised it's head as a potential runner.
Thanks for your input though.

So I pulled the trigger on the Yamaha Stagepas 1K on Saturday.
Very happy with it. Got the Dollie thrown in as part of the package, along with a couple of XLR cables to run back to my mixer if needed.

Protective cover is included, not an additional accessory.

Storage for the tower sections too.
Only complaint about these is the difference in length of the speaker section compared to the spacers. It is fractionally longer, and doesn't provide a nice clean fold over of the flap.

Easy access to the grab handle

A couple of storage pockets for cables and microphones etc

And final approval granted by She Who Must Be Obeyed!!

Overall thoughts, excellent sound reproduction when playing music through Bluetooth.
Excellent vocals too.
Very easy to set up and get sound going.

The pick up in my guitar will need some getting used to. I have the Fishman Matrix Infinity Mic Blend fitted, and you can barely hear it when set to pure piezo. Add in the barest of mic into the mix and volume jumps considerably.
With the channel set to Line, my guitar volume set to 90%, mic blended in about 10%, the channel needs to be near maxed out to get decent volume out of the system. Switch the channel to Mic, and I only need to adjust the volume to no higher than "2".
Any percussive playing with the mic blend at around 10% is pretty harsh unfortunately, but luckily I don't do that very often.

I'm looking forward to my first gig with it.

That doesn't sound right. You should make sure that pickup system was installed properly. You shouldn't have hardly any volume when set to all piezo. Sounds like the undersaddle pickup part of things isn't correct. Can you try the amp with a different guitar? I don't think any of these volume issues has anything to do with the amp.
