We are still out in the motorhome; probably heading for home later this month. Yesterday, I was working on another music video production, when I heard Joan yell, "Something close to us is on fire!" (I heard it in spite of the noise cancelling headphones I was wearing.)

When I turned to look out the window in our door, all I could see was billowing black smoke. I ran outside to find the RV 3 sites down from us was on fire!

"Let's get our rig out of here!" Joan grabbed Rufus and our fire safe and put them in the car; in the meantime, I started unhooking utilities. Joan put the car a block away; I fired up the motorhome; she pulled in the slides and raised the jacks. I had to honk and holler at gawkers who were standing in the street so we could get out of our site. SMH

I put the coach in a vacant site a safe distance away, then ran back to the car. Joan handed Rufus off like a big furry football and I took him to our coach. By this point, the affected RV was fully engulfed. The occupants got out. The fire burned so hot (propane and fuel tanks - my concern with getting our coach out of there) that RVs on either side of it are totaled (sidewalls buckled and delaminated from the heat).

By the time the Fire Department got there (minutes), all they could do was try to keep the gawkers away. The motorhome burned to the frame...

With the fire out, we moved our coach back to our site. Here's a screenshot of the video clip I was working on at the time...

More work to do on the video before the debut. It took quite a while for the adrenaline to wear off last night... I was up at 4:00am, so I spent more time on the editing.

Never a dull moment.

Usually, the question here is "which guitar would you grab if you had to leave the house in a hurry?"

You were able to move the whole house instead!

Very happy to hear that no-one was hurt.

Jim;

Good save! I served 10 years on my area volunteer fire department; living spaces with propane were our biggest fear. As you found, often people surrounding a fire will just stand there without realizing that they should be moving their butts. You have great presence of mind.

We like being able to travel with "the whole house" along with us; all our own amenities, including the Emerald X10.

One of my boat jobs was driving a rescue boat. I've seen the aftermath of a propane explosion. I was aghast at the people who kept moving closer for a better look. They were lucky the tank flared rather than exploding.

We are in the Black Hills (western South Dakota), at a membership RV resort. Great place. For the record, Joan grabbed Rufus and got him a safe distance away before coming back to help me with the motorhome. I know where I am on the priority list.

The latest Mark & Jim music video is done...

Mark wrote the lyrics, and did the guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard tracks from his home studio in Glendale, AZ. I did the guitar and vocal tracks from our motorhome in the Black Hills (western South Dakota), using the Spire Studio. Mark then transferred those tracks to Logic Pro X and did the video production.

Joan shot my video parts on location in the "Art Alley" in Rapid City, SD; Mark's were shot in his home studio. I did the video production and editing from the dinette in the motorhome.

My parts feature the Emerald X10 that is traveling with us.

Hope you enjoy this, feel free to share. If you want to sing along, here's the lyrics...

Vaccine

Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Please go ahead and stick your needle in.
Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Only you can take us back to when.

Far too many have no clue
So we must all rely on you
Cause wearin’ masks is hard to do, vaccine.

We haven’t learned to stay away
Cause it’s more fun to drink and play.
We’re dying to get out and make the scene.

There’s some who’ll claim that you are flawed,
But we trust science, we’re in awe
Of all your lovely antigens, vaccine.

Maybe you’re M-R-N-A
Or made the old fashioned way,
You’re gonna kick that COVID it its genes.

Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Please go ahead and stick your needle in.
Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Only you can take us back to when.

The race is on, we need you fast,
But your effect has got to last,
Or, there’s no point in taking you, vaccine.

We probably won’t be virus-free,
But maybe herd immunity
Will free us all from this quarantine.

So jam that needle in my arm.
Fauci says you’ll do no harm.
I’m all yours to immunize, vaccine.

Now, it could take an extra dose,
Like Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
But, we’ll do anything it takes, vaccine.

Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Please go ahead and stick your needle in.
Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Only you can take us back to when.

We hope that Dolly doesn’t mind,
We went ahead and changed her rhymes,
Cause your truth is hard to find, vaccine

And last, we thank the brilliant minds
Who work nonstop to save our kind,
Cause we’re running out of time, vaccine.

Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Please go ahead and stick your needle in.
Vaccine, vaccine, vaccine, vaccine
Only you can take us back to when.

Only you can take us back to when.

Please go ahead and stick your needle in.

Only you can take us back to when.

Only you can take us back to when.

I caught a few minutes of the Grand Old Opry on TV last weekend, where Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert were singing spaced apart on stage in front of an empty house. During the banter between songs, Brad briefly launched solo into:
Quarantine, quarantine, quarantine, quarantine
I'm begging of you please don't shake my hand
It was cute but I like yours better.

I do think his was a little long. And I would have liked to see more killer instrumentals. But, it is a good piece of work. Nicely put together, nicely played. A worthy play.

We enjoyed that video Jim, but had missed about the fire. One of my worst fears with MotorHome travel, glad you and everyone else was ok. Good call getting your rig clear ASAP. We were in the Black Hills for a week in July, but completely missed the alley you were in for the video. Another great find.
Thanks for sharing.
