Even two 4" panels, in a v-shape right behind the mic, can be helpful. The more treatment, the better, but some is still better than none. You can also play around with where you are in the room; some spots will be better than others.

If I could fit three in the room, would a three-sided U shape around the mics be better? Assume there would be some spaces between them.
