Default Hard, watertight case for Rainsong WS1000

Does one exist or do you have to have it custom made?

Just thinking about having it on the beach or going somewhere by boat. Little squalls pop up all the time, spray off the boat, traveling etc.

My Rainsong Smokey (which is a discontinued 12-Fret, 24.9" scale WS model), came in a SKB case. I think it is this one:

It seems to be watertight. I never put it to the test though.

A true watertight case would be the SKB i-Series, but that is pretty big and bulky for a boat where space is limited. I've used my SKB for a couple of airline trips and also used by gig bag as a suitcase for the less breakable clothing, etc. That lets me travel light on the other end, while that big SKB stays in the hotel.

A Hiscox Pro II case also has a good perimeter seal but I don't know if it is "officially" waterproof. Having done a lot of kayaking, I've never seen a dry bag big enough for a full-sized guitar, but they *may* be out there.... Perhaps any regular hard case with a heavy contractor grade plastic trash bag would suffice?

Or you could use it as a paddle and still play it...seriously though, I had used my Rainsong and my Lucky13 on many a sailing trip with no ill effects due to salt etc...never even thought about a hard case on the boat. When I get a carbon guitar the hard case has always gone into storage and a nice gig bag is used. While I don’t abuse my guitars, the CF is there so I can use them and not worry too much, so that is what I choose to do. I understand though how wonderful these instruments are and our normal desire to care for them like our wooden ones kicks in.
Good luck,

Good luck,
Do those guitars have electronics? Was a little concerned with the salt air and electronics, which was the reason for the sealed case.

Never had an issue with the pickups on guitars carried on a boat. Unlike at home, though, I didn't leave any of those out of the case (not even the CF) when boat traveling.

Like the good Capt. Jim I kept them in the gig bag when the boat was moving, but yes, the Rainsong had electronics and we never had any problems.

Can I interest you in a belt for your suspenders?
