Are they going to introduce a series made to pre-war specs?

Kind of like the final scene in The Sopranos...

More information trickling out, and they're confirming the spruce veneer (as many had already guessed). Can't wait to see the whole thing!

Apparently not, since that write-up says RS "developed the process." Leads me to believe that all these years that Emerald has been making CF guitars with gorgeous infused veneers went unnoticed.

Rainsong says absolutely nothing about "veneers" and a lot about "thin spruce soundboard".

Quote: "fuse a thin spruce soundboard and unidirectional pre-impregnated carbon (pre-preg) in a single molding step".

Quote: "an SFT soundboard delivers rich crystalline carbon sound subtly colored by spruce".

The facebook photo shows a cutting template sitting on an uncut spruce soundboard on a swath of uncut pre-preg carbon fibre.

The text hints that the new SFT soundboard may be a spruce/carbon laminate; which differs from their standard double-top carbon sandwich soundboard.

I'm eager to hear about availability and pricing.

Hard to tell how thick the spruce layer is, just a thin sheet for cosmetic purposes or a thicker layer with enough strength to be structural. The Emerald process, by all accounts, is merely cosmetic/aesthetic. RainSong seems to be using the wood layer structurally.

Possible, I s’pose, but I doubt that RS is going to compromise anything structural. Despite what textual spin they may put on it, I suspect that their process is much the same as Emerald. They just knew a good thing when they saw it and reverse engineered it, perhaps with subtle adjustments. Of course, I could be all wrong. Time will tell. Fun to speculate though, huh?

Yes fun being a spectator in the speculations too... I likes it. I think it will be a fine one. RS knows stuff.
