I successfully prosecuted the then current Mr. Gay Latino title holder for battery against a former lover.

Shockingly, Nancy Grace or Court TV were not there.

For those of the "older" generation....when I was about 5 years old, my family and I were on a cross country train trip to California to visit my Uncle Harry. At some point while returning from the dining car, or something, I ran ahead of folks and burst into what I thought was our cabin area. Nope, I had walked in on none other than, Pearl Bailey! I can see her now as if it was yesterday as she leaned forward and said, "Well hello, come on in honey"! My folks were mortified......and quickly excused the intrusion (but I wanted to stay!LOL).
Not famous at all with the family after that! LOL!!

I had a great uncle who was quite famous in the earlier days of the NFL - his name was Carrol Rosenbloom and he owned the Baltimore Colts for many years. Then he "traded" them for the LA Rams with Bob Irsay, who owned the Rams previously and then did the unholy deed of moving the Colts to Indy, stealing away in the middle of the night. And then my Uncle remarried Georgia Frontiere, he washed up dead on a beach in LA somewhere, and then she took off and moved the Rams to St. Louis, not to return until after her death many years later.

My Uncle was a terrible person, a real SOB. He and my old man got into a fist fight outside the funeral of one of my mother's beloved Aunts because he didn't want us (or anyone else coming from my Grandmother) anywhere near this funeral. The whole reason and the whole thing is a long story I'm not gonna get into. My mother was devastated and she wanted to pay her respects to her aunt, and he tried to keep my folks out of the funeral. He and my dad punched each other out for a while and then my folks went in anyway. My Dad was NOT prone to fighting - that's the only time I ever heard of him being in a fist fight. But I guess he started it and held his own. It was a messed up family and I have zero memory of the guy, but he was my great uncle. And he was quite famous.

I, OTOH, and not even slightly famous and I like it that way - I had my 15 minutes locally being on the local TV news a handful of times during my career, but it was just if something I was working on got really controversial and they needed a quote from me.

So there's that...

-Ray

I've met many well known performers over the years - some from my record store days, but most just attending concerts and meeting/hanging out. Some I developed friendships with over time.

But the only real family connection to anyone famous that I can think of, is when my maternal Grandfather came back from WWI he started a boxing gym.

One of the guys he sparred with regularly was George Henry "Kid" Lavigne.

I am SO not famous. A son of a college professor and a genealogist. Spent my 17-45 years in one blue collar job after another as automation and computers eliminated them. From 45-63 I was a social worker. I am now famously retired.

None of that was like rock star status or anything.

I ran into Michael J Fox and knocked him down while I was running across an intersection by Times Square in NYC, sometime in the late 80's.

Maybe they'll make a TV movie about it someday

I wish!
I sure could use it.

In 1965, at the age of 10, I was no more than 20 feet away from Her Majesty the Queen, Elizabeth II, as she visited my school during a royal excursion to the county of Northamptonshire, England.

Sadly, I failed to catch her gaze. Who knows what could have come from a regal glance in my direction, and her inevitable recognition of my obvious potential?

Alas, it was not to be.

Oh, I could tell you about how my Son met Ed (Eddy Murphy), Joe (Joe Walsh), Elton (yes, Sir Elton John) and Ron (Mr Isley), Annette Benning, Micheal Keaton, and others while working in LA/Hollywood.

And I could tell you the time he introduced me to Spencer Davis at a recording studio during a RocknRoll Fantasy Camp.
He was a really cool guy.
But Andy Silly Moustache is going to come along and blow all that into the weeds.

So I could tell you about Becky, whose Aunt worked for Neil Young in his publishing branch.
Invited to dinner, I brought a guitar and a book of my original songs to play while she was visiting her niece in Seattle.
She took a CD with her... nope, it was a cassette, which tells you how long ago this was... and I never heard another word about it!

But I was on the front page of the “East County News” about 30 years ago, and was interviewed “on air” by the local radio celebrity.
Yep, I sold nearly 300 cassettes of my self-produced album, and gave away about 700 of them hoping I’d get a phone call from a producer wanting to put my songs on someone’s album.
Didn’t happen.

Needless to say, I kept my day job.
And the monthly pension check suits me just fine.
